I have traveled to some U.S. cities but Memphis changed my life...
After my meeting with Laube, I wanted nothing with ACFW. To be fair, everyone I encountered there was lovely. I was just in my feelings. I wanted nothing to do with my book.
I spoke to my sister. My biological sister. My sister in Christ and it was as if God had been speaking to me through her.
She told me that maybe God wanted me to go to Memphis because there was someone I was supposed to meet. She told me to focus on writing my book. I should have just gone to a more local writer's conference etc etc. I know she meant well about the last part but God confirmed time and time again that He wanted me in Memphis.
I understand why He wanted me in Memphis.
My second day in Memphis, I had time to kill before performing and heading to the ACFW first timers orientation meeting. I wanted to go to the Cotton Museum. Yes, cotton, the commodity has a museum and a rich history based in Memphis. Before that, I went to one of the oldest sandwich shops in the city. I was hangry, not hungry. It was hot and very humid. The owner of the shop said Memphis is the armpit of the American South. Noted. I thought to myself. Very nice guy and he informed me that he lost power due to storms in Eastern Tennessee. I recall watching the news about it. I prayed briefly about it. While there I met a construction worker who was in his lunch break. I had a great conversation with the both of them. They told me where to go and visit and eat. You know the good ol' work of locals.
I ate the sandwich and went to the Cotton Museum which was really, really cool. Cotton revoluntioned the world and the employee of the museum named Anne and I exchanged historical information regarding cotton. I learned a lot. Like wow cotton is truly fascinating and I know I am repeating myself.
The following day, I had a meeting with Laube and we already know how that went.
The day after that, I went to the Civil Rights Museum. It is located in what was once Lorraine Hotel, the place where Martin Luther King, Jr was assasinated in April 4, 1968. I have a totally different blog post to write about this.
Before going to that museum, I went to the lobby of my hotel and listened to soaking music and worship songs. I was praying to God and He relayed a lot of things unto my spirit. I was crying even in public. That was how upset I was regarding that meeting. God told me to do something and from the looks of it, it was related to one of the gentlemen I met that day in the sandwich shop. God gave me instructions and asked me to do something. The bible is clear where Jesus instructed His followers "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" - Matthew 6:3
Imagine. Well no need to imagine but just imagine God sent me to Memphis for this child of His! I am beginning to think that He was the assignment after all.
This man had been going through it and God used me to remind him that Jesus sees and knows all. To Christ be the glory!
Jesus sent me to Memphis for a lot of reasons but the gentleman needed to hear a word from a spirit filled believer. Again to Christ Jesus be the glory!!!
